Ohio’s Original Interscholastic Creative Writing Program for Middle Schools
This Giving Tuesday, December 1, support the young writers of Power of the Pen. Power of the Pen has been hurt financially by the pandemic, yet we continue to give young writers a home. Your contribution will help us continue to build futures for Ohio middle school students.
Please complete the form below to make your online donation. When entering a donation, use the following format: 10.00 for $10 donation; 100.00 for a $100 donation, etc.
If you choose Monthly or Quarterly for payment frequency, you are setting up a recurring donation for that amount to be charged to your card at each interval. For example, if you type 10.00 for amount and choose Monthly, $10 will be charged to your card each month.
Thank you for helping us to encourage and showcase the creativity of Ohio's young authors!
“I'm so glad that students have Power of the Pen to turn to during these difficult times. I know our students are super happy to be doing the club, not only because they love writing but because it helps them feel like things are at least a little bit normal.”
~ Amy Merrill-Wyatt,
“The power to write is the strongest power of all. Writing creative stories has made me feel so many different things: joy, sadness, fear and laughter. It has helped me understand things that seem unclear. I think that if your writing has the power to make you feel something real, if it has the power to change the way you look at things in life and to truly connect with something deep inside of you, then you should write as much as you possibly can – because in the end, you’ve just tapped into the world beyond what’s right in front of you, all through the simple act of picking up a pen.”
Dr. Alexa Sandmann of Kent State University congratulates the winners of letters of support for scholarships from Kent State, Macy Gannon of Ashland Middle School and Clare Rothkopf of St. Sebastian School.
