White Hall at Kent State University

Cost: $40

Application Deadline: May 29, 2019

Encourage students to attend the National Writing Project Youth Writing Camp at Kent State University this summer! The one-day camp will be held from 8:30 a.m to 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2019, in White Hall. Camp directors are National Writing Project at Kent State University (NWP-KSU) teacher consultants Aleesha Bradick and Angie Briggs. NWP-KSU writing coaches will lead the day's activities.
The camp offers two tracks. Creative Composers, for elementary students entering grades 4-6 in fall 2019, features fun-filled activities to encourage expression in a variety of media. Powerful Voices gives students entering grades 7-9 the freedom to write creatively, with Kent State University's scenic and historic campus serving as inspiration.
The cost is $40 per student. Participants receive a camp T-shirt, goodie bag of supplies, lunch and snacks. Each writer will choose a favorite piece from the day to be published in an anthology.
    The deadline for registration at
https://commerce.cashnet.com/YouthWritingCamp is May 29, 2019. Encourage interested students to register early, as a limited number of spots are available. For more information, visit NWP-KSU's website at http://www.nwp-ksu.org/for-students.html.
While Power of the Pen is not a host or sponsor of the camp, we wanted to share this opportunity with our coaches and their writers.

The John Carroll University Young Writers Workshop, a week-long summer camp at John Carroll University, is now offering both day camp and overnight residential options, so students from all over the country to experience inspiring and rigorous creative writing! They compose new work, which will be published in our annual anthology. The last day of camp features a reception and reading by the Young Writers.

For more information about the JCU YWW, please visit http://sites.jcu.edu/yww/. The cost for the day-only option is $380; the residential option is $980, though there is an early-bird rate in April.
